ya’ll, i have NEVER believed that these things actually work but in my job search desperation yesterday I reblogged this and I KID YOU NOT I got a freelance job query sent to me that night and two job interview emails the next day (one of which had actually sent me a rejection previously and then went “oh sorry, that was an error” today)

“The camera adds 10 pounds” is a phrase of the past. Now people look better in their pictures than they do in person
When people say that the camera adds ten pounds it’s because cameras used in filmmaking/TV production have a wider focal length and therefore subjects look wider or bigger. Whereas cellphone cameras have a short focal length that makes subjects appear thinner or smaller.
Nowadays, with DSLR’s and a variety of lenses, we are able to depict a wide range of focal lengths by using one kind of camera.
So that is why most people on social media may seem to look thinner than they do in person (especially in selfies because the front facing camera on phones especially have short focal lengths).
And that is also how the phrase “the camera adds ten pounds” came about.

okay but experiencing all this (normani’s debut) in real time is really special considering she was bullied off social media for a period of time and undermined in her group and to now having all these big names and forces supporting + backing her is just really indescribable. she’s really special and talented and you can tell that she’s gonna go so far with her career. witnessing this is so great because she really deserves it all
In short period of time they were stranded together on an alien spaceship Tony managed to get Nebula to open up without fear of being punished for it, he put a band-aid on years and years of horrors Thanos made her endure. She was always compassionate and had a great potential for good, but with Thanos she was too afraid to show it and was bullied into feeling the constant desire to live up to his expectations.
Tony made her feel she was good enough, he did not treat her like a weapon, he was not afraid of her and she knew she had his complete and utter trust.
Nebula helped him greatly on the spaceship and was a terrific companion, she later became a very valuable member of Avengers who continued to treat her as their equal and not a threat.
Tony created a path on which Nebula finally found herself, her happiness and serenity.
